Mlindo the Vocalist opens up about financial struggles despite hit debut album ‘Emakhaya’! Mlindo the Vocalist has left fans shocked and emotional after revealing the financial struggles he faced despite the success of his 2018 debut album Emakhaya.

Speaking on the Piano Pulse podcast, the AmaBlesser hitmaker disclosed that he earned little to nothing from the project, which was released under DJ Maphorisa’s BlaqBoy Music label.

In a clip shared online on 24 June 2025, Mlindo opened up about a touching moment when the late rapper Riky Rick stepped in during one of his lowest points.

Riky gave me clothes. He didn’t take me shopping or send money. He literally gave me clothes from his wardrobe when I went to the studio,” Mlindo recalled. The moment highlighted Riky Rick’s generosity, with fans praising his legacy of supporting young artists.

Despite Emakhaya launching his career and achieving widespread acclaim, Mlindo revealed he saw no financial reward. Reflecting on the period during lockdown, he said:

Lockdown hit when I was home. I couldn’t be locked down this side. The coins were not coining. Emakhaya was released 2018. Then 2019. Now it’s 2020. Which money? What money are you talking about?
